80º NORTH 2009
During July and August Will was pleased to be invited to sail with Roger Capps aboard his Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter Dolphin. With a small crew Dolphin sailed to Spitsbergen, embarked more hands and continued North. Pack ice hindered further progress at 80º42' N. Landings were made on Nelsonoya and Phippsoya with 560 miles of frozen sea to the North Pole. A number of peaks were climbed and geological samples were collected for Ghent and Southampton Universities. A log of the 9 week voyage will follow.
